The first ever Irish club representative to be ofered a place at a European tournament saw Midlands United feature at the EPFA Champions Cup 2013 in Paris hosted by the Chatenay Malabry team. The Midands United team were Aoife McNicholl, Emer O'Sullivan, Thomas Donogher, Sean Donogher, Neil Sheehan, Emmett Daly and Aishling McElligott. Coached by Mike Donogher.
Midlands United's taste of a new level of powerchair football at the higher level was a big jump from their dominance domestically back home in Ireland. Midlands were in a group with strong French and English representatives and were on the end of defeats thatthey had not been used to before. Villeneuve d'Ascq 0-7, Aspire 0-6 and the highest toll was against Northern Thunder 0-9. It was a closer contest against the final club team in their group from Belgium Charleroi with a tigher match ending 0-1. The first European experience ended on a high note when Midlands United were awarded with the tournaments Fairr Play award as voted by the officials and the team returned to Ireland determined to implement a new style of play that they had witnessed and to get their playing equipment achieving the utmost.
