FIPFA and Power Soccer Shop supported a development event in Paris in 2013. Ireland lobbied and were successful in being offered to send two teams to the development event. It was decided to send the two teams based on ages and send an U-18 Ireland team and an U-16 Ireland team. They would join two teams from France, club team Vaucresson and also a younf French selection, a very young Finland team and a team representing the USA. The tournament was run on a round robin format.
The twelve players that represented Ireland at this devleopment event were on the U-18 team Neil Sheehan, Ciaran Forde, Marc Bigger,Thomas Winters, Tommy Stack and Kevin Gannon. On the U-16 team there was Thomas Donogher, Sean Donogher, Emer O'Sullivan, Josh Dillon, Scott Hilland, Carl McVeigh. The U-18 team was coached by Nick Harrisson and the U-16 team by Pat Halpin. The players all received international caps for this tournament and were presented with them by Irish legend Paul McGrath at the Aviva stadium during half time in an international match between Ireland and Serbia. The development tournament in Paris was won by the USA team with the U-16 team placing 4th and the U-18 team placing 5th.
